Welcome to the Cambridge Widening Access to Medicine Society monthly newsletter 😊. We hope you are having a good final few weeks to the Spring term and are looking forward to attending our 'A day in the life' event. In this month's newsletter, we will be exploring how to tell salt and sugar apart without having to taste them, exploring issues, in the current medical curriculum, busting myths about the interview and meeting Louisa Yapp - a current Cambridge medical student and YouTuber! Food for Thought: an example interview question
How would you differentiate between salt and sugar without tasting them?
Our advice would be to have a think about the bonds involved in salt and sugar and you can read our answer here! Myth-buster
Myth: Interview questions are very esoteric and can only be solved by geniuses or people with special preparation.
While it’s true that the interview questions might keep you on your toes and challenge you with the material you might not have seen before, they are not meant to be unapproachable or esoteric. The interviews are meant to assess how you approach challenging problems, and your interviewers often guide you in the right direction in the process. Make sure to think out loud so that you can get the dialogue going! Behind the Headlines:
